The stage play
The Johnson’s Story script was completed for stage and radio play in autumn 2008, with ongoing production activity running two to four times a year in January–March and June–October. Actors and singers from London and the North West are considered, with casting periods in September, December, February and May.
Bookings include a Theatre in Education programme for prisons, libraries, museums, theatres and radio play. Any given employment period may contain both performances and workshops, with future plans for a US tour, documentary, education programme and film. Strong singers are an advantage but not essential. Pay is dependent on part-funding, all payable at ITC rates.
The cast of six actors touring the North West is to be confirmed, with touring to include possible participation in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the autumn. Actors must be prepared for possible dates in America. Casting breakdowns are announced in PCR periodically; membership of Spotlight and Casting Call Pro is preferred, and audition dates are arranged by personal invitation.
Casting breakdown
5 Black actors (3 male, 2 female); 1 White female. Rainbow Beach is the story of a group of sharecroppers and their struggle to find freedom and respect. It spans fifteen years; some cast members play double parts.
